In an attempt for everything to have it’s place with our newly revised 3.0 version to life, I’ve known exactly what to do upstairs: get all of the loose CDs off the floor that get scratched, lost, and disincentivise the kids from mixing things up musically. We have our lullaby CDs for bedtime and our fun CDs for getting dressed and doing laundry: music definitely keeps things exciting for everyone so I can clean sinks, fold clothes, and pull babies out of toilets.
Here’s my attempt at creating some order and aesthetic excitement at the music corner upstairs.
a large scrap of fabric
thread
ribbon
batting
buttons or stamps to embellish
To make the pockets, cut 4-8 rectangles (depending on how many pockets you want) of fabric one inch longer than a CD. Stitch one of the long sides and press under the other, like above.
Line up your pocket pieces on the larger rectangle piece and pin in place. Stitch the pocket pieces onto the large piece of fabric, 1/4 inch seam allowance, on both sides.
Now layer two pieces of batting, a piece of fabric the same size that you just sewed the pockets onto, right side up, then the pocket piece of fabric, wrong side up.
Stitch around all four sides, leaving a four inch opening at the top, 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Turn. Insert ribbon for the handle. Pin in place and top stitch on all four sides, catching the opening on the top.
Embellish. Make it exciting for children–stamps, vintage buttons they can choose, something to add that extra detail.
And enjoy. I hung mine with a 3M hook. You could also make this for your car, a great idea to create order.
A $3 table (yard sale) for the CD player and the music station is complete, and boy, do the babies love it!

I love it!
Hello Friend! Thanks for stopping by my blog! It’s fun to meet a fellow blogger in Pennsylvania! How rare!
Anyway, what a WONDERFUL blog you have! I love the feel of it, the pictures, the projects, your focus! Very very cool! Carry on!
I have never thought about stamping fabric. I LOVE that idea. I will definitely be doing that in the future!
I loved your idea so much, I went ahead and made one for my daughter’s cd’s. It turned out so cute, and I love that it will help keep her cd’s out of the hands of our little ones, and hopefully give my daughter a chance to work on some organization in her room. Thanks so much for sharing this! Next on my list to make is your equally amazing hanging paper/mail organizer.
