So we’ve been eating apples practically with every meal since apple picking. Nobody seems to mind. We have no plans for making applesauce this year or freezing apples. Just eating them right off the counter and baking them here and there.
When we had our apple day last week with friends we were introduced to apple cider slushies at the market. You can probably imagine how easy they would be to make and yet, how perfect they would taste and satisfy thirst. After enjoying our first, we tried making them at home. They are wonderful!

apple wedges (optional)
1. Blend about 4 cups or more of ice. You might need to help your blender a bit by pushing the ice on the top down to the bottom.
2. You’ll get something like this. Some might be slushie-consistency and some might still be pieces of big ice. This is when you start adding the apple cider a little at a time. The liquid will help the stubborn pieces of ice blend.
3. It should start looking slushie-like. When you get the right consistency of ice to apple cider then pull out any remaining large pieces of ice.
4. Spoon the apple cider slushie into glasses, add a little apple wedge, and serve with a straw or spoon. They are quite refreshing! Enjoy.
A and A baked a simple apple crisp with me last evening that we enjoyed with a little ice cream. I’m wanting to try some this morning with milk. Why not? It’s just apples, oats, a little flour and sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts–sounds like the perfect fall breakfast eaten warm.
