There’s a lot of celebration planning going on this week and not just for the big girls’ birthdays next week. There’s a bridal shower I’m helping with (you’ll be seeing the bride’s colors of lime and hot pink in this space this week) and a little friend’s birthday party all this weekend.
It makes the gift giving so much easier when the little recipient loves to do art. We can cover that. There is an awesome line of art supplies at Target called Kids Made Modern. We picked out their cool multi colored pencils and their crayon gems. (My girls have been pretending they’re rich with these real gem-look-a-like crayons.) I put a little art pouch together last night, using whatever I already had in my trim drawer. An old metal zipper from my Granny’s stash was all I found. So that and two pretty florals came together to make a pouch. It still needed a seven year old touch so I used heat bond for the “e”.
I’m thinking these pouches would be perfect for each of my girls to keep their art supplies in for road trips, like the upcoming beach trip in early September. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with all of the crayons that end up on the floor of the car (which is where they are now from the NYC trip!). I would need to find my zipper foot by then.
Today is looking like a park day. It is actually sunny today but too chilly for swimming. Rowan is exploring in the dining room as I type and the girls just took a break from scootering for a water break. These summer days won’t last long.
