It happens pretty naturally, the outdoor activity moving indoors this time of year. We had some warmer days last week and now, the heat is turned back on and coats are a must before anyone walks out the front door.
I love this time of year. Beyond the excitement of upcoming holidays and upcoming plans to be made, it is the one time of year that I am justified in all of my dreaming of making and making time for it. It is the time of year (since we are officially in November) that the girls and I begin to pace ourselves in the making process. We pace ourselves to savor it all while having plenty of time for all we have dreamt of making/creating/baking. Oh, it is a lovely time.
The activities that I’ve been reluctant to remind the girls about while they were busy outdoors this past month are now officially ready to be enjoyed indoors in this new season: embroidery, sewing, piles of books to read aloud, books to be read alone but nestled together on the couch, Christmas making, and enjoying the ever growing herbal tea selection in the kitchen cupboard that is already dwindling.
With the nights becoming colder and darker, our evening routine as a family has slowed down quite a bit, and naturally so. Our post-dinner summer walks have now translated into time spend on the couch with books or games before bed. The nights are slower and I am craving some quiet book time of my own. (Dying to finish this.)
These are happy days spent together.
What magic has filled your home as we go deeper into this season?
