As I mentioned yesterday, fairies are the thing for my four year old girls right now. So this homemade fairy dust gel is a dream for them and carried with them wherever they go, just in case they need a little magic.
This magical fairy dust is so easy to make! I was happy to have everything on hand and you might too. Here’s the recipe:
homemade fairy dust gel
- 1 cup clear aloe vera
- 1 TBSP vegetable glycerin (I got mine here.)
- 6-8 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil (Or your favorite essential oil scent. Mine is from here.)
- 1 TBSP fine colored glitter (We used Martha Stewart’s Fine Glitter Set.)
(Recipe adapted from Soule Mama’s fairy gel)
Mix the aloe and vegetable glycerin together. The perfect recipe for little fairies to help with.
Let one of the fairies add the magical glitter and mix.
Isn’t it beautiful?? This fairy dust gel was made using a reddish-pink glitter. I can only imagine how beautiful any other bright colors would turn out like blues and greens.
The fairy dust gel is shiny and moisturizing. The little flecks of glitter aren’t as concentrated once on skin as they look. It really is a beautiful gel.
We poured our gel into our metal tins for two large portions for Apple Blossom (Annabelle) and Strawberry (Ainsleigh).
The fairies decorated their lids and with a little craft glue and hot glue they were complete.
The girls know their fairy dust gel is not for the face and only one finger at a time should be used to get gel, not the whole hand. And they’ve done so well and had so much fun with it! Sometimes they’ll come rub some soothing fairy gel on my arm so I can fly. And I’m grateful since my flying isn’t what it used to be.
And that’s our homemade fairy dust gel. (Use at your own discretion–magic and flying will occur. )
I’m thinking this would be really fun to make in a large batch using a variety of colored glitter and given to my little fairies’ friends. Maybe a fairy party favor, maybe a simple little Christmas gift. Either way, I love the ingredients and how the gel turned out. Try it out–I’d love to hear what you think!
Have yourself a magical weekend friends.
