pinterest in our day

Last night, after the littlest girls were down for bed, I made a coconut banana bread (that I pinned the other day on Pinterest) with the big girls for breakfast this morning.  It was a wonderful loaf–coconut milk, shredded coconut, banana, almond extract–to enjoy with a grapefruit.  It is definitely a keeper of a recipe.

It is interesting how Pinterest pops up in our days.  Today we are finishing up a project I found on Pinterest months ago that I intended to make and give to the girls at Christmas and never finished.  Maybe it is better that way since they get to help me finish and make clothing and hair for the miniature Indians. I never would of had the idea without seeing something similar on Pinterest first.

What about you– what does Pinterest look like in your home?  Do you pin for future inspiration or pin to make right away?  Do you pin everything you see that you love or just the most practical?

I’m hoping to plan a Pinterest Party myself sometime during these cold months indoor.  Nothing special, just time for women to step out at night with materials in hand to make something they’ve pinned and time and space to do it.  I’m trying to decide what project I’d be most excited to make.

How does Pinterest influence you?  I’d love to hear.

Enjoy your weekend.

Pinterest is a recent discovery for me and I love it. I think I’ve repinned something of yours! I guess it would be easy to get carried away, pinning hundreds of photos and ideas but I’m being selective and choosing things that are inspiring and also that I would like to make at some point. You have pinned some lovely things and I like the look of your coconut banana bread (do you think I could leave out the banana though, not a big liker of them!). Hope you get to have your Pinterest party, that’s a brilliant idea for the winter. Have a lovely weekend x http://pinterest.com/jessieandmaisie/

I think the banana replaces other ingredients to make it super moist without using more oil and such. It does have a strong coconut flavor which might off set the banana for you. :)

I discovered pinterest a long time ago. My husband, who also loves it for his art work, and myself spent our quiet time after the kids were in bed pinning away until I would run into people who I hadn’t seen in so long and they would comment about something I had pinned. I didn’t like that it was connected to my Facebook page where I leave very little information, so I cancelled my pinterest membership. Recently, I started up again and have allowed my page to stand on its own since I am only using it to store some ideas for myself. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I like being able to use it for inspiration when my creativity is running dry, but I find that too much time browsing mimics being creative when all I am doing is poking away at my computer screen. SO I have resolved to pin things that I will be most likely to use or complete rather than just everything I like.

I’m like you. I only have time for Pinterest to be practical in my life. TO many pretty things just overwhelms me.

Hi Nicole, I’ve been using Pinterest for several years, since shortly after the site started. I couldn’t begin to tell you all the ways I’ve used Pinterest. Mainly, I’ve thrown some amazing parties filled with ideas I saved over time on Pinterest. Even Rowan’s baby shower is pinned on my party board! I definitely save ideas to use later…..but I do go back to them eventually. Sometimes I just browse my boards because it’s fun. I have a “Yellow” board which always perks me up. I track books I’ve read. I created gift idea boards for both of my children. And, unlike most people (I think), I do go in and clean up my boards pretty regularly. (I’m the original Audrey!) https://pinterest.com/audrey/ Hope you have a lovely weekend!

How cool! I’m excited to follow your rainbow board. :) And I definitely like the reminder to clean up my boards.
