One of our little corners just was freshened up with Johanna’s first finished embroidery.
Her first project she tackled (with a little help here and there) was a simple face I traced onto fabric in her embroidery basket.
She learned how to do a real backstitch–and quite beautifully I might add–on her little face. (I did the filler stitch for her for the yellow hair.) She decided each color she used and the thickness of each stitch. She worked so carefully on it–it was wonderful to watch.
It was very much her embroidery project.
Isn’t it lovely?

Thanks for offering this giveaway. While I love the fabric handle basket, I would prefer the pattern for the fabric bin. http://www.etsy.com/listing/107581825/easy-to-sew-fabric-bin-pdf-sewing
It is a cute fabric bin, isn’t it?
great job johanna!
wonderful job johanna!! my mom used to do the same sort of embroidery project when i was little too, so much fun.
Love this! I’ve been thinking I should introduce my little guy to embroidery.
This is so inspiring! I love the basket, but I also love her embroidery. It would be so fun to introduce this to my 5 yo twins. Thanks!
I absolutely loved this basket when you introduced it a couple of weeks ago. It would be great to make one for my daughter’s crafting activities as well. I absolutely love reading your blog and seeing the wonderful memories you create with your children.
All of the patterns are great! I think I would have to use her discount on purchasing multiples:) And the embroidery is precious. My mom still hangs up my first embroidery project in her home.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter
. Patterns are wonderful!
Love how big this basket is! And all of my kiddos like to do needlework, so they would love this.
So sweet!
Adorable Johanna! You’ll have to show Isaac. He loves hand sewing, and just started embroidery too.
Ah Johanna, you make me want to introduce embroidery to my 5 years old twin boys! this could be a fun activity. I love both patterns the basket and the bin, lovely. Thanks for the giveaway.
Johanna did such a great job! I am really impressed.
Cute!
Johanna’s embroidery is lovely, I bet she’s beaming to see it on display too. That’s a real coincidence with your generous giveaway. I’ve had fabric bins on my mind and would like to make some and was sure I’d seen one on your blog which you made. I’d had a quick scroll through previous posts but couldn’t locate it, so was going to ask you. So I would love to be included in your giveaway for a pattern for this instead if that’s ok. Many thanks x
My oldest loves crafts, all kinds. This would be perfect for her!
I would love to make this for myself…
Thanks for the giveaway. I was inspired to do some sewing with my kids after reading your first post. My 4 year old boy did pretty well making basic lines- he found the threading a little tricky but I explained that he had to pretend the needle was a rocket taking off into the sky and when it couldn’t go any further it had to come back down to earth. We don’t have a basket/box for our sewing things as of yet and this pattern looks great.
Yay! A giveaway! I’m in! My sewing machine is begging to be used
As soon as I saw the basket, I thought it would make a great gift for my little girl. Even if I don’t win the pattern, I’m glad to know the pattern so I can find it on my own. Thanks for sharing!
I love the pattern and your version of it! Can’t wait till my kids are old enough to start with simple sewing/embroidery projects. And Johanna’s work is so sweet – she must be so very proud to see it displayed like that
Wonderful work, Johanna!! Love that she is so intent while she’s working. Such a nice giveaway. Would love to have this for my granddaughters. Blessings.
Oh how fun!! I LOVE how the little face turned out, and I love that you added it to the decor of your home.
Hey it’s Natalie,
I love them. They are so adoreable and so cool!! I looked at all the patterns and I would like to win the one you have. It would be awesome to have.
Thanks for sharing with us, Natalie.
Ooooh, I want it soooo so so very much! I loved this pattern when you first showed it. I am planning on creating a sewing corner in my new kitchen and I’ll be making these for the girls…I really hope I win, but now I also know where to find the pattern! THanks! And she did a beautiful job! Autumn (age 4) keeps asking me to teacher her how to knit. Do you have any good resources on teaching a young child knitting??
