I’ve just begun embarking on a journey for our family. It is something I looked into with my sick stomach some months back. And now, it is something that I am actually learning and living alongside: that of essential oils.
It all started with my search for relief with my stomach problems. (My stomach is better in general, thank you.) A close friend has since become my teacher in the powers of using essential oils in my household and for my family. I love it. I love using therapeutic grade oils first instead of instinctively looking in the medicine cabinet.
How I’ve been using Young Living’s essential oils:
- Lavender— incredible oil. Used to ease tension in my shoulders and calm me when stressed. I love to simply inhale it and rub some on the back of my neck. Also, when my girls get a cut, I rub a little lavender on the cut and it rapidly helps the healing.
- Thieves— a blend of “hot” oils like cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus and other oils. Diluted (with olive oil) and rubbed on sick, congested babes’ feet. By the next morning Annabelle was breathing better. Thieves can also be used as a disinfectant for your home. Can’t wait to try that.
- Frankincense–used for coughs. We’ve has so many coughs lately that the usual humidifier, tea and honey, cough drop solutions weren’t cutting it. I diluted (with olive oil) frankincense and massaged in onto my girls’ chest, like I would Vicks, to help break up the mucus.
- Peppermint–put a few drops into my herbal tea to help aid in digestion. It is so powerful and does so much more than simple peppermint tea on my stomach.
(I started with their Everyday Oils kit. It has some of everything.)
It just feels right using something that has been used for thousands of years (look in the bible for many references of oils to heal) to help my family and our household. I believe in them. I am finding more and more uses for them. I have a little spiral manual that covers every sickness and need and which oils to use.
I’m excited to take you along this journey of relying more on oils, what I learn, and what works.
